26. THE ISLAND OF PASSING TIME:

(LET ME GET ME OFF MY CHEST):
I am 'Scary' : The Celebratory Beta Artist

Riding on a train an old style brown colored rounded top style interior car painted in a color scheme of tan and dark brown with tan wicker seats and a pressed-tin ceiling detailed with scrolls and filigree and the seating is roomy and there are people sitting everywhere orderly and quiet but raptly under my attention as the person in charge of the trip or event but at the same time time being merely a random collection of travelers and apparently in the recent past here perhaps but actually exactly 1966 and outside the windows passing on the left we suddenly are slowly passing a multi-tiered station and stadium place filled with people in multi-tiers lines and stands awaiting more trains as these trains on many tracks enter this vast station area from all two directions ours and the other and these many people too are standing about busy awaiting trains and as we pass through in our train they too the many start a cheering and a mumbling noise as we go by slowly and what once was a row of mere windows has now turned into an open-sided double-wide seating area on this train car and here we are looking at art magazines and gallery page exhibits of that time Larry Poons Roy Liechtenstein and others who are artists of that day with their color field and otherwise abstract arts and with me right next to me along with me are other famous people and rock stars and artists riding and we are each engrossed in our way separate with our interests each once alone and together aware of each other's personal attributes and interests and lives and burdens whatever they may be but oblivious and unattached instead with smiles of awareness and a few questions here and there “Bob what did you mean with ‘Five Believers?’” and Brian Jones still alive with a curious blond smile and distant but real and the others overtly dressed as dandies with cufflinks and silky beige colors and everything seemed old but current and whatever we passed was viewed with a detachment of time connected to no reality and occasional the rest of the crowd in the train car would cheer or whoop over something said and I was teasing Mick Jagger for once again stepping on his shoes in the crowd and scuffing them and he feigned a happy annoyance and in such manner it all went on and then I arise and stand up to proclaim : “Attention all ! I am 'Scary' a Performance Artist who has arranged all this small show for your delight and these people you see are not real but figments of your enjoyment wishes and this time we are engaged in too is false and only momentary as we pass the island designed by myth this Island of Passing Time we are all visiting in this my Performance Train for your delight and edification!” and the crowd begins cheering and they cheered and cheered as we passed station after crowded station with more people each cheering.
